Volkswagen Edinburgh

This project involved the construction of a comprehensive Volkswagen sales and servicing facility at Newbridge Business Park on the west side of Edinburgh. The development provides a full automotive retail environment with showroom, customer facilities, and complete servicing capabilities designed to Volkswagen Group standards.

The structural engineering solution provided large open showroom spaces with minimal column interference to maximize vehicle display flexibility. The servicing facility incorporated specialized structural elements for vehicle lifts, workshop equipment, and parts storage. The building design integrated corporate identity requirements with functional operational needs.

The main engineering challenges included achieving the required column-free showroom spaces while maintaining structural efficiency. The servicing areas required careful structural coordination for heavy equipment installation and vehicle circulation. Integration of brand-specific architectural elements with structural requirements demanded close collaboration with the design team.
