BMW/Mini Cambridge

This project delivered a modern BMW/Mini sales and servicing facility at Cambourne, strategically positioned on the A45 five miles west of Cambridge. The development provides comprehensive automotive retail facilities combining sales showroom, customer areas, and full servicing capabilities in a purpose-built environment.

The structural design incorporated large-span showroom areas to accommodate vehicle displays and customer circulation. The servicing facility required specialized structural solutions for vehicle lifts, workshop equipment, and heavy vehicle access. The building envelope was designed to meet automotive industry standards for lighting, ventilation, and operational requirements.

Key engineering challenges included creating column-free showroom spaces for optimal vehicle display and customer flow. The servicing areas required structural accommodation for heavy lifting equipment and vehicle circulation patterns. Integration of mechanical systems for vehicle servicing while maintaining customer comfort in adjacent areas required careful planning.

The completed facility provides BMW/Mini with a strategic retail presence in the Cambridge area, combining brand-appropriate showroom presentation with efficient servicing operations. The design successfully balances customer experience with operational functionality, creating a modern automotive retail environment that serves the local market effectively.
