TNT, Fforest-fach, Swansea

This project delivered a comprehensive parcels distribution centre for TNT on the north-west outskirts of Swansea, comprising 1850m² (20,000ft²) of combined office and warehouse space with extensive yard areas. The facility provides TNT with strategic distribution capabilities serving Wales and the southwest region.

The structural design integrated office and warehouse functions within a single efficient building envelope, optimizing both operational workflow and construction costs. The warehouse areas were designed for parcel handling equipment and automated sorting systems, while office areas support management and customer service operations. The extensive yard areas were engineered for heavy vehicle circulation and loading operations.

The main engineering challenges included optimizing the integration of office and warehouse functions while maintaining operational efficiency. The facility required design for 24/7 operations with appropriate environmental controls for both working areas and parcel handling. The extensive yard areas demanded careful design for drainage and surface durability under heavy vehicle loading.

The completed facility provides TNT with an efficient distribution hub strategically located to serve Wales and the southwest region. The integrated office and warehouse design optimizes operational efficiency while minimizing construction costs, creating a facility that effectively supports TNT's regional distribution requirements.
